About the Blonde

Yes, I am infact Blonde. A blonde who loves to bake.

I find baking relaxes me and look forward to the time I get to spend in the kitchen, even if latel that that not been much. I grew up being my grandma’s helper in the kitchen, and having a house full of kids and grand children, she baked every day.  She was very selective about who could be in the kitchen when she was baking so kids would not be underfoot. I was the chosen one! It was destiny!

Now that I am an adult with my own kitchen,  I try to focus my blog on recipes that I think will be crowd pleasers and are easy to make. I admire those bakers who make gorgeous 4+ tiered cakes or slave for hours in the kitchen baking breads and fancy desserts with too many components to count. I don’t have the time and my friends, family and coworkers prefer simple goodies over the complex ones. I think it is the simple, well done, recipes that create the greatest satisfaction. I don’t crave my grandma’s 4 tiered fudge cake like I do her basic chocolate chip cookies. Maybe its just me but I think ‘bigger’ is not always better.

I try to include recipes that you can easily add/subtract ingredients to them and make them your own. I hope you enjoy this novice baker’s goodies. Please feel free to comment or email:

  1. Hello!
I really like your blog. The recipes so doable. I have 11 year old twins (boys) and their friends that I bake for most often and I KNOW they would LOVE all of your treats. I’m so excited.! I don’t know where to start. I was intending to make the self frosting nutella cupcakes for them tonight but now I’m not so sure………hmmmmmm.
Thanks for the wonderful recipes. Please keep them coming! And I hope you don’t mind that I added you to my blog roll.

Ps I should mention I have a 9yr old girl that loves to bake with me. With your recipes she can pretty much do it herself!

  2. I’ve been debating a move to wordpress but haven’t found the motivation to do it. I’ve put so much stuff into the blogspot address and customized it so much that it might prove to be too much of a pain now. I like the look of your blog. Great recipes!

  3. Cakebrain,
Seriously, the move from blogspot to wordpress was soooooo easy. WordPress exported all of my pics, comments, posts, everything. The whole switch took maybe 30 minutes! LOVE it!

  4. Ingrid,
So glad you found my blog, I love to bake yummy treats that are simple! Afterall who wants to slave for hours for a treat? Not me! I need gratification ASAP!

  5. Your weblog makes me drool every time. I would like to taste every one of your treats!! I’ll be your first customer if you set up an online store for your goodies!

  6. I love your blog – recipes and design. I have been playing with my own design in WordPress and I tell ya, HTML is a challenge. 🙂 I keep looking back at yours because it looks really crisp. Love it!

  7. Just found you today. I plan on re-finding you again and again. Looks Great!. I have a culinary category on my site. I haven’t posted much on baking yet, but perhaps down the road you can give me a look as well and let me know what you think.

  8. Gorgeous blog – sweet as can be and I love that I am so similar in mindset
I would like to know though how you managed to get a ‘continue reading’ on all your posts rather than have the whole post showing

If you could help that would be brilliant – cant wait to further explore your blog 🙂
I hope my baking can achieve your level!!!

  10. Hi, I just wanted to tell you that I, too, am a baking fanatic. I see a lot of posts from Mom’s and Grandma’s and, in general, women bakers. Not a lot of guy bakers out here, but that’s ok. Your Dutch Apple Pie recipe is on my permanent list of things I make regularly, in addition to rice pudding, bread, rolls, fruit tarts, (specializing in lemon, btw), and cannoli. Yes, I even make my own shells. I have a mill to grind my own flour, so, yeah, I go a little crazy. My daughter says that this is the most “wonderful tasting apple pie” she’s ever had. Thank you for posting this and sharing!
